“Remember this, for it is as true and true gets: Your body is not a lemon. You are not a machine. The Creator is not a careless mechanic. Human female bodies have the same potential to give birth well as aardvarks, lions, rhinoceri, elephants, moose, and water buffalo. Even if it has not been your habit throughout your life so far, I recommend that you learn to think positively about your body.”
― Ina May Gaskin, Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth
If you are a momma who has prayed and researched and made the decision that a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) is the safest option, then I would love to help you achieve the birth you are hoping for. Our bodies were created to heal and your chances of having a VBAC are great!
A mother who desires a needs a good support system. I would encourage you to find a doctor or midwife who is truly supportive of your decision and will do everything they can to help you achieve. As your doula, I will help you seek information to equip you to make informed decisions. I will also make suggestions that will help you prepare your body during pregnancy and birth.
I have been blessed to have had 3 lovely vbacs. I understand the emotional, spiritual, and physical issues that are often associated with a vbac. I am very grateful to my care team (doctor, midwife, and doula) that helped make my vbacs a wonderful experience; I want you to say the same thing at the end of your nine months.
The doula care is the same as outlined on the birth doula page, except I will give care that also uniquely relates to a vbac momma.
I look forward to walking with you on your vbac journey!
