Explanation of Care Services

Unlimited Support via phone/text/email
I am available to you for questions or concerns that you have.  I try to return messages within an hour.  Texting is the best method.  If you have an urgent need, please contact your care provider first.

Reference Library Access
My larger reference library will be available for you to borrow books from.  I ask that you borrow one book at a time.  Titles can be found here.

Prenatal Visits
Prenatal visits last for 90 minutes each.  During your prenatal visits, I will answer questions and share information about labor and birth.  As time allows, I can share comfort measures with you and your spouse.

Birth Planning Assistance
Birth Plans can be overwhelming to write.  They need to have specific information, but not overwhelming.  I will help you decide what is most important to you and assist in writing a clear, concise birth plan.

Private Childbirth Education Class (4 hours)
This is a nuts and bolts class that covers the basics of labor and delivery.  This private class  can be held in the comfort of your home.  If you are interested in the full course, please check out my group classes or contact me about a full private class that works around your schedule.

Continuous Labor Support (home/hospital/birth center)
I will come to your home and/or the hospital to help you labor.  I will be there with you until you deliver and up to 2 hours after your birth (this includes helping you with the first feeding).  I ask that you contact me when you believe labor is starting, even if you are not ready for my support yet.

Aromatherapy (essential oils/diffuser)
I have a selection of essential oils that will be available to your during your labor and birth.  You may choose to diffuse or apply essential oil to help you during labor.  Essential oils have helped women with relaxation, motivation, and energy.  If you are interested in this option, I can help you select oils prior to (or during) labor.

Assistance with initial feeding
If you are planning to breastfeed, the first feeding can feel overwhelming, especially if you have never breastfed.  I will help you get baby properly latched on and answer your questions to get you started with confidence.

Postpartum Visits
Being a new mother with a new baby is an important job!  I will assist you with the “little things” that can help make a big difference.  I am there to help you!  Here are tasks that I can assist with: birth recovery, breastfeeding support, baby care, baby laundry, light housework, and meal preparation. If there are other tasks that you need, please just ask.

Services I Cannot Provide
* I cannot provide clinical tasks such as those performed by a doctor, midwife, or nurse.
* I cannot make decisions for you.
* I will not discuss your care with the staff in your place.
* I will not coerce you in your labor and birth decisions.

Payment
a $250 retainer fee is due at our first prenatal visit.  The remainder of the fee is due by the start of your 37th week of pregnancy.  I am willing to set up payment plans or consider bartering.

I feel that doula care should be available to mothers, so if we cannot work out payment arrangements, I would be happy to refer you to a doula (or student doula) who may offer a reduced fee.
